A elegant little French restaurant tucked away in the streets of NYC.Service: 10/10The man that served us welcomed us warmly and took us to our seat. He was very polite and often checked up on us while we were eating to make sure we were satisfied. He served all the customers with respect and waited patiently for us to finish before serving our next course.Food: 9/10I ordered from the set menu for lunch. I got the French onion soup, the chicken breast and the sorbet. There were only 3 options for entrees and mains and 2 for dessert. The bread was hard as a rock on the outside but the inside was fluffy. The French onion soup was quite heavy and there was a lot of bread and onion, the top was slightly burnt. The chicken breast was moist and the vegetables were a great side to lighten the meal. The snails taste was super strong. The sorbet was deliciously creamy and not too sweet. It was so much food so a pretty reasonable price of $25 per person.Ambiance: 9/10It is very dark inside so it has a pretty romantic feeling. The small tables are good for small groups. The decorations make the restaurant feel like were in France.

We just had our engagement dinner there last night. When we got there, I asked for a more private table, to which the host initially replied, ‘this is the most private table,’ to a table in a crowded room. I asked to be seated in the second room by the window and he replied ‘we’re closing this section.’ Nonetheless, he agreed to set up the table in the second room and seat us by the window anyway, which made us very happy. The food, OMG, was exquisite! Snails were great! Beef tartare was great (a little to spicy to my taste and the amount was a tad too big for a french restaurant but hey we’re in America haha), and the filet was purely devine!!! My fianc and I both love french cuisine and we would certainly rate the food of this restaurant top notch, authentic, hands down! Highly recommend making a reservation way ahead of time, even a month ahead of time! It’ll be worth it, trust me! Kudos to the chef and the amazing story behind the chef (on the menu)!

Didier Pawlicki, the chef and owner of La Sirene is one of the most earnest and passionate restaurateurs around.Having eaten twice before at his other New York spots, I was super excited to attend a press dinner at La Sirene, one of his oldest and most acclaimed restaurants.Didier offers a classical French menu filled with family recipes that are truly delightful. Do try his rendition of Escargots La Bourguignone with butter and garlic sauce. I couldnt stop dipping his house made bread in the leftover sauce long after all the escargots were gone.I also love his Ravioles De Royan Au Comt an uncommon dish made of tiny little Ravioles which are rarely found outside of France. These are stuffed with comte cheese and covered with a truffle cream sauce. You basically cant go wrong with much on La Sirenes menu. Everything is made with a personal touch as Didier is intimately involved with all thats going on in all his restaurants.La Sirene offers a great selection of French wines from small-estate vineyards, imported beers and a full bar. You can get a great deal for the 3-Course Early Bird Dinner (5:00 PM 7:00 PM, Sun.-Thurs.) for $35.00. therestaurantfairy.com

We visited La Sirene for NYC French Restaurant Week & the food was delicious! Located in SOHO, near the Holland tunnel, La Sirene’s chef is also the owner and is an expert in authentic Southern French cuisine.

  • Manhattan With A Twist

Having dined at Le Village not too long ago, where my taste buds had a dance party from all of the wonderful flavors, its safe to say that I was happily looking forward to checking out another restaurant helmed by Chef Didier Pawlicki. La Sirne, another classic French restaurant, is located in SoHo, and is a charming, intimate space with dark wood, two dining rooms, and classic bistro-style seating. To read the full review, head to the blog! manhattanwithatwist.com
