Balaboista is a lovely restaurant serving Mediterranean cuisine in the heart of Soho. Naturally prices here tend to be on the expensive side, but the food is worth it as it is delicious. I had come here with a friend for lunch and we shared the fried olives and hummus to whet our appetites. Then we split the grilled hanger steak which came with a green salad and potatoes and the salmon with an enticing fennel pure. By the time we had eaten the last morsel, we had to skip dessert which I plan to enjoy on my next visit.

Balaboosta is the best!. We’ve been in Manhattan less than two weeks and we’ve dined at Balaboosta three times because it is soooooo good. Have had two dinners and one brunch. It was very close to where we we staying but after the first time we dined there we knew we had to go back. Really imaginative and refreshing food, great service and atmosphere.Overall my favourite restaurant in NY. If I lived here I would eat there at least once a week!! Bought the cook book too and it not only has great recipes but tells the owner’s very engaging and interesting story.

Blahhhh! We wondered into this cosy place but were disappointed almost immediately. All the staff were aloof and that’s being polite. The food is confused is it Arab or some new world fusion. It is neither. A big waste of time money and effort. Stear clear of this one. Too many better choices close by.

Lovely evening. A perfect place for my wife and I – soothing ambiance complete with vintage metal recipe boxes on the shelf and fabulous food and equally fabulous service which was welcoming and not pretentious or fake. Crazy good mushroom walnut date paste appetizer, on special.

Excellent. I found this to be an amazing dining experience. Not one wasted bite. For starters, the patas were hell fire hot and amazingly delicious. The market salad lived up to the waiters extolling of it and was as fresh as the day is long. For dinner I had the beet pasta and it was truly exceptional. The dessert certainly didn’t disappoint, either. We ordered the middle eastern cheescake topped with pistachio ice cream and it didn’t survive the table long. The food was so delicious that for once I didn’t mind the snobbishness so typical of a Manhattan wait staff in a trendy spot, which as a native I generally loathe.

Amazing experience! Great and creative menu. We didn’t have reservations on a Friday night and the host worked us in very fast. Our server was Sarah and she did an amazing job! And the food was outstanding to say the least. I am leaving completely filled with Mediterranean goodness.
