Being not accustomed to the cold here in NYC & also having come down with a cold we decided to order some chinese takeaway with a decent amount of star ratings on their delivery app ‘Seamless’. I decided to take this time to try out the dish ‘General Tso chicken’ after watching a netflix doco about it. We also ordered the broccoli with snow peas, pan fried pork dumplings, wonton soup & chicken noodle soup. Yes, we ordered way too much but that is what we felt like. The ‘General Tso’ reminds me of both the sweet & sour & lemon chicken mixed together as 1 dish. The chicken is batterered, fried & then doused with this sauce & has a few broccoli stalks around the dish. I am glad I got to try this dish out, but probably wouldn’t really order it as I do not normally order this when I get Chinese back home. We were expecting the broccoli dish to be a simple stirfry but it was cooked with a heavy sweet-ish sauce which was not very nice (maybe we just aren’t used to heavy dishes like this). The wonton soup had a very faint savoury broth with the wontons taking up the majority of the space of the containers (they were huge!). The chicken noodle soup was also the same, heaps of noodle not enough soup (& the soup broth had no flavour). The food sort of reminded me of Panda Express so if you like that type of food then you’ll enjoy this. Personally, Chinese isn’t really the first cuisine I like to eat anyways. Delivery arrived within the time set which is good & they give you free edaname which is a nice touch. I find it cute how their cutlery sets come with sauces (soy, duck & mustard) & with a fortune cookie. Also they packed the rice in the cute white chinese take away boxes! We don’t get that back in aus hehe.
